Beauty Subscription - Sephora August 2017 box

Play! By Sephora is a month beauty subscription box that offers product samples found at Sephora for $10/month. I’ve had this subscription for a year and a half now and it’s something I never get tired of.

This month’s box is all about the elements of beauty that work in favor of your skin and make us all “makeup geeks”.

Sephora recently started to provide variety of boxes based on your answers on your Play! Profile. With my profile, I was given the following products.

Alterna Haircare CAVIAR Anti-aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist - My hair is thick and coily. I don’t see any use to a volumizing mist for me. This mist contains algae and Marine Plumping Complex which helps to pump up hair. I have wanted to try products from this line but I really don’t see any use for me with this mist.

GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer - I haven’t really wanted to fall for the hype that is GlamGlow. Mainly because of the price tag but there might be a reason for the hype. I’ve tried this moisturizer once since receiving it and I really like it. I’m a matte lover and this moisturizer kept me matte all day. The only negative I’ve found so far is how the product is dispensed. You have to reach into the jar to get this stiff, almost-balm like moisture and with this small sample, it’s really difficult without a spatula. I would like for it to be in a tube to make it easier and my hygienic.

Clinique Dual-Ended High Impact Mascara & Primer Duo - I’ve just come around to wearing mascara and really I don’t know how people do it with so many different mascaras opened. At this time I have two open and (with this one) three on standby. I can’t wait to use this. I’ve tried a mascara primer and it works wonders and I love Clinique as a brand.

BeautyBlender Micro Mini - This is a first time to see in the Sephora box. I think a lot of people were excited but not because of the size. It’s the micro sponge that more adapted for the smaller parts of your face but still a BeautyBlender. I may get some use out of it or not. I’m enjoying my other beauty sponges a lot more.

TooFaced Mascara Melt Off Cleansing Oil - I’m all for cleansing oils and you always need something to get your mascara off but this product worries me. It’s a unitasker (if you’re a Good Eats fan, raise your hand!) and I have eye makeup remover and my cleansing balms that do the same job as this. It seems easier since it’s a wand that you can smooth over your lashes but it’s just an extra step to me. I will be trying this product out but don’t look for me buying the full size product.

Fragrance of the Month: Kat Von D Saint & Sinner - OMG! I was like really worried that I would love these scents and I DO! They are definitely down my alley and are beautiful scents. Saint, a floral light fragrance is great for summer and spring with hints of Mandarin, Jasmine (fav!) and Musk. While Sinner, a dark warm fragrance, is better suited for the Fall and Winter with hints of Orange Blossom, Cinnamon, Patchouli and Vanilla. Both can be interchanged in the seasons but are just beautiful! I’ve heard a lot of people not like Sinner because of the warm scent but I love it! My mom used to wear a similar fragrance note and it’s just comforting. If I had to choose one to purchase, I would purchase Saint. I love Sinner so much but Saint would be a better year round scent.

Not a spectacular box this month but great products for me to try and look out for at Sephora next time I visit. Subscription to this box is open and is a great option in the subscription box world is you love Sephora (like I do) and want to try the brands there.
