This is the second month of the May’s Beauty Box and my final box from this subscription. I wasn’t really feeling the price and I don’t shop at Macy’s for makeup as much to be a regular shopper.
The box is priced at $15 USD with five samples, a perfume sample, and a $5 coupon to use online or in Macy’s. This month is skincare centric in my opinion with a extremely cute travel themed bag.
Last month, I was able to use about half the bag to make a look. Since this box is more skincare/unseen makeup, I can really just speak on their use than show.

AHAVA Time to Clear Purifying Mud Mask - I’ve seen AHAVA at Ulta plenty of times and actually had a foot cream gift set one year from the brand. I wasn’t excited about this brand but it would be interesting to try out this mud mask. I don’t do wash off masks as much as I do sheet masks but a good mud mask is something I like to keep in my arsenal. This mask does have great ratings and reviews. It would be better suited for oily/combo skin but we’ll see how it does for my dry sensitive skin.
Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer - I love the LM setting powder. It sets my makeup and is beautiful. To be able to try a primer from the brand is exciting especially since it’s a radiance primer. I’ve tried other primers like it - my most favorite is Becca Backlight Filter Face Primer. It just gives the face a “lit from within” look. I’m going to try this one out and compare it to the Becca one and I hope it performs just as well or better.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief - Clinique is a brand that I’ve enjoyed. From their “Take off the Day” cleansers to the eye creams and moisturizers. This product does not disappoint. A cream-gel moisturizer that leaves the skin plump and moisturized. Great for my dry skin and just a great product. The brand is excellent and I will always try to recommend if someone asks.
DermaBlend Loose Setting Powder - Like I said, I love Laura Mercier setting powder and the only one to top that one is the IT Cosmetics pressed powder. I have not tried the DermaBlend powder only because I was afraid of the dreaded white cast. Now I’ve seen others with my skincolor who have used this powder and they say they love it and it doesn’t look bad on them. The last time I got this powder, I gave it away. This time, I’m going to try it. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Burt’s Bees Hand Salve - The only product that I had to give away. I really like a few Burt’s Bees products and it was nice to see this product. That was until I opened it. The first scent hit me and I asked “Why does it smell like soap?” Hand Salve shouldn’t smell like plain old soap. It wasn’t until the scent changed to a candle scent that I realized that it was because it smelled like lavender. I can’t stand the scent of lavender. I don’t know why but the scent of lavender makes me wanna barf. Lavender oil is something that is seen in the skincare community but I can’t stand the smell of it. As soon as I realized it, I knew I had to give it away and I was a little upset. It would have been a great product for me.
This was my second bag and final bag. I cancelled my subscription and I don’t regret it. It’s a good concept and a great way for people to try brands but it’s like the Sephora box and is not worth the $15 even if you count the $5 coupon as the extra. With the samples, this bag is valued at around $35 which is well over the price but I just don’t see it as something I will enjoy in the long run. It’s not for me but I enjoyed trying a new subscription outside Sephora.
Until next post,
XOXO
