New series for the blog as I compare different masks that have elements in common - from ingredients, types, and benefits. Keep an eye out for more to come.
We have two masks to compare tonight. With the #AutmunMasking Challenge on my IG, we are doing bubble masks and the two competitors are SooAe Charcoal clay bubble mask and Su:m37 Bright Award bubble de-mask. Let’s get the stats out.

SooAe Charcoal Clay Bubble Mask
Picked up from Wal-Mart for $2.50USD. A wash-off mask that is cleanse the face and unclog the pores. Contains carbonated water, green tea, and charcoal powder.
The product is a gray cream-gel that is applied thickly and no real fragrance.
Su:m37 Bright Award Bubble De-mask
Received as a sample pack but can be ordered online form StyleKorean for $41USD. A wash-off mask that is supposed to cleanse and brighten the skin. Contains acai berry extract and N-Acety Phytosphingosine, a fermented ingredient that supposed to help clear the skin.
The product is an opaque gel that’s spread thinly and has a slight floral scent.

(After initial application - Left: Sooae/ Right: Sum37)
After applying both products, they bubbled immediately, the SooAe more than the Sum37. After about 3 minutes, they were full-on bubbles covering the face. Have you ever had bubbles on your face? You know the tingle, tickling feeling that they give. I got that feeling from the SooAe. It was really irritating.
I wet my fingers and massaged the mask in after 5 minutes. I didn’t rinse which let the masks bubble once again. No irritating tingle this time. I then rinsed it off and went about adding a mist and toner to my face.

Now I would be going on with my routine but here’s the thing - I got two bumps on my cheek after rinsing (one on each cheek). I had cleansed with a cleansing milk before the bubble masks and no forming pimples in sight. But afterwards...so that just concludes that my skin did not like either mask.
(After massaging the masks)
Both were easy to wash off and since I have dry skin, the both masks pulled oil from my skin and dried me out (lots of moisture for tonight!) I would recommend the masks for those with oily skin and who just want to have fun with bubbles but for sensitive skin types, you might want to pass.

(After rinsing - notice irritation on cheeks)
Final result: I would not use either one again because of how my skin reacted but ignoring that and considering the masks - I would pick the SooAe. You won’t have to worry about getting it where you don’t want to, it easy to put on and take off and the bubbles are bigger. SooAe for the win!
Did you enjoy this? Look out for more What’s the Difference in the future!
Until next post,
XOXO
