It’s been a year since I decided to go the natural route (no more perm and letting my curls grow). I only have a few products while trying to find others to add. I had a hair milk that I really liked. I picked up the Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk after hearing great reviews on it and seeing that it was a #1 pick for a lot of people. I can say that it was a top pick for me too since I’ve used it up.

Before getting into everything, let’s  what I’m reviewing. I was lucky to receive two Garnier Fructis Style products through Influenster for my honest review and they made picks based on curly hair.

I was given the Garnier Curl Renew Reactivating Milk Spray and Curl Scrunch Controlling Gel. We will refer to them with shorter names because that’s too much XD.

Both products are marketed for naturally curly, coily hair types to help add control and style while keeping your curls defined.

I’ve been using them both for a little close to a month and they are great options for any curly girl or guy.

Like I mentioned, I was using the Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk when I received these products so a comparison between it and the Garnier was inevitable.

The Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk is marketed as a refresher spray that helps to moisturize, soften curls and prevent frizzies.  The product has a translucent milky look to it and smells like a hair shop (if you know what I mean). The key ingredients are agave, sweet almond, and wheat protein to help moisturize the hair and give the curls new life. The product has no alcohol, parabens, petroleum, mineral oils or artificial colors. This was something I would use almost every other day to help my hair remain hydrated alive.

The Garnier Curl Milk Spray is also a refresher spray that helps to hydrate, renew, and nourish the curls back to life. The product also has a milky look to it, but smells so sweet due to the coconut oil being it’s top ingredient. The milk spray does have cetearyl alcohol in it but it’s not drying and leaves my hair feeling soft.

Between the two, I’m in love with the Garnier’s scent. Coconut just smells so good in hair products and it makes my hair smell wonderful. Neither products leave a residue on my hair and help with styling my curls.

I did feel like Carol’s Daughter was a lot more watery than the Garnier. A few times I thought that I could just use water to re-hydrate my curls after using Carol’s Daughter. Considering the price ($10.97 USD), I would have been happy to do so.

The Garnier Milk Spray felt like it actually stuck to my hair and help to get my curls redefined and hydrated without the watery feel. The price isn’t bad either ($3.81 USD at Walmart/$2.93 on Amazon). If I had to repurchase either one, I would repurchase the Garnier.

The second product I received was the Curl Scrunch Gel. I didn’t have a gel per say in my routine. Truth be told, when I was younger, I hated having gel in my hair. It would always just make my hair hard and flaky. I got older and I avoided gel but now with my natural hair, I need gel in my life but I didn’t know what to get. Luckily, I was able to try this gel.

The controlling gel is a clear gel that helps to tame curls while defining them and keeping frizzies away. The styling gel is formulated with shea butter. It has a tropical scent which makes this line just a “want to use” product line. The gel is a “scrunching” gel which allows for defined curls with just a bit of product and curling scrunch.

The product can be used on wet and dry hair, which I’ve done both, to help get the curls that you want. The only complaint I have is that the product is marked as “extra strong hold” but when I used the product to slick my hair into a bun, it didn’t really hold it down. My curl pattern was defined but it didn’t really hold it down. It also didn’t do much for my edges. This product retails for a similar price as the spray ($3.42 USD at Walmart/$2.97 USD on Amazon).  I would say this product is good for helping with styling the and defining the curls but there’s little hold for those of us with coily hair.

These products will continue to be used with one option being a repurchase but they’re really a ways to help point me in the direction I want to go with hair products to help my hair healthy and happy.

Until next post,

XOXO
