#XOReview - Botantics Shine Away w/ willowbark Ionic Clay Mask

I’m not a big fan of charcoal masks. I’m more of a clay/mud mask girl and this clay mask is a favorite now. The Botanics Shine Away Clay Mask helps to cleanse the skin while making it clear and brighter. With mineral-rich oceanic clay, the mask contains “negative electrical charge which acts like a magnet”, pulling out impurities and leaving the skin soft and smooth.

The mask is recommended for dry, normal, and combo skin which is different from usual clay and charcoal mask that are targeted to oily skin. I received this mask in the January Target Beauty Box which was a curated BootsUK box - all brands that are available at the super pharmacy store that is Boots in the UK. I’ve seen plenty of beauty Youtubers talk about Boots so I was excited to get the box. Check out my review on the box here!

The Ionic Clay mask is made up of ocean sea slit, benzoic acid - to help prevent infections, and willowbark extract - anti-inflammatory astringent. Truly a mask to help cleanse and purify the skin.

Now unlike other clay mask, this product does not come out thick to make it easy to apply. Since there are only a few ingredients, the mask is very runny and can be a big mess if you aren’t ready. You will need to shake it before opening it, but that’s the only work you need to do.

It’s very runny but once you apply it to your face, it doesn’t move. It dries quickly after 10 minutes and rinses off nicely in cool water. The mud doesn’t have an odor or stinky mud smell which I love and can stand. After cleansing it off, my skin feels soft and smooth and the best part, not like its dried out or pulling.

I’ve used this mask four times now and each time, my skin has enjoyed it and no reactions have popped up. Though messy, this is really a great clay mask to use for all skin types.
