Play! By Sephora is a monthly beauty subscription box that offers product samples found at Sephora for $10/month.

This month’s box is about being natural ingredients in beauty. No Parabens, No Phthalates, No Sulfates! Why Sephora thought it would be okay to just give me a box where half the products are Tarte, I don’t know. There are plenty of natural ingredient products in the store from plenty of brands. Like I said, I have nothing against Tarte. I just don’t give them my money. The whole holding out on darker shades in the foundation and just how they basically just pay for influencers to suck their @$$ to give them good reviews just doesn’t sit well with me.

@Boscia MATCHA Magic Super-Antioxidant Mask - This was the “bonus” product this month and I’m excited to get this because I’ve been eyeing it since it came out. A matcha clay mask that helps to detox and cool the skin. Boscia is a great brand with only one product really making my “do not buy again” list. Can’t wait to try this mask!

@FreshBeauty Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment in Dream - I’ve had a few Fresh lip products and I have tried their skincare. I haven’t had any problems and I’m happy to have this lip treatment. I’m almost done with the Caramel lip balm which may be repurchased, but until then this will be a backup.

@JosieMaranCosmetics Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter - I’ve tried the sunscreen from Josie Maran and had a reaction and haven’t tried any other products from the brand. I know now it’s because of the titanium oxide in the sunscreen (mineral sunscreen is a no-go for my skin) so I’m interested in seeing what this face butter will do.

@TarteCosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in Paaarty - I don’t wear blush all that much. I did find one that I love (a Wet n Wild one). Now this one looks too light irl. On Sephora’s try on app show, it barely shows up on any of the dark skin models. It’s not use to even try with this blush.

@TarteCosmetics Color Splash Lipstick - in Salt Lyfe - Another Tarte product that is too light for me. I have a couple of nude blush lipcolors. My actual nude is Frozen Strawberry in the Sephora Collection lipstains. This lipstick is too light. My niece has asked for this and I’ll let her take it because she wants to learn makeup, so I’ll let her. But this lipstick isn’t for me

@TarteCosmetics Deep Dive Cleansing Gel - The last Tarte product and my coworker has already taken claim on it. I have enough cleanser that I trust and like and really don’t have room to add a new one. PLUS there is lavender oil in it - I can’t stand the scent of lavender, so I will gladly give it away.

So there was nothing really wrong with the Tarte products - they just aren’t for me and I’m fine with giving them away. I still want Sephora to take into consideration of doing a quiz or something to better curate the boxes and of course DO AN ASIAN BEAUTY BOX! Hopeful thinking and continual writing to them will have to do.
