What’s the Difference - Beyond Belief vs By Nature (Coffee)

Another month has passed and with it, we have another what’s the difference! This time, we take my favorite addition - coffee!

I had these masks on side and thought I would get a three way WTD like with the rubber masks but it was still the classic 2v2 this month. This one has a clear winner for me because one mask nearly caused a reaction on my face! Let’s see what is what with the first competitor.

First up is the Beyond Belief Americano Mask. I picked this mask up from Sally’s Beauty for $2.50 USD. I hadn’t tried this brand or this mask before but was excited to. It’s a refreshing mask that is supposed to rejuvenate dull and tired skin with coffee seed extract and honey. The coffee extract is actually at the end of the ingredient list but you can see it’s presence in the mask essence.

The essence has a jelly-like texture. The mask didn’t have any kind of coffee scent or any scent at all which was surprising.

I kept the mask on for 20 minutes and patted in the remaining essence. The face felt cool and refreshed and sticky. Though the essence absorbed, my face was very sticky after and didn’t go away even with the final steps of my routine.

Please note I used both of these masks at night to see if there were any adverse reactions the next morning.

The morning after using the Americano mask, my skin was fine and looked great. Now the second mask was...not my friend.

The second mask I used was the By Nature Coffee + Coconut Oil Exfoliating Face Mask. *sighs* I had high hopes for this mask. I’ve tried another mask from this brand that I was so surprised by and actually liked.

This mask is different as it is an exfoliating mask with actual coffee powder and coffee extract on the mask. Because of the simple natural ingredients in the mask, it did have the strong scent of coffee and coconut. This was also why I had high hopes.

The essence was thin and basically a base for the exfoliating step. Placing the mask on, it was cooling until I touched around my mouth. It started to sting. Now I was surprised by it but kept going. Then it started to burn like crazy. It stung around my mouth, on by cheeks, and around my nose. It was like the pumpkin enzyme mask all over again.

I could barely keep the mask on for 2 minutes. The mask states that it’s a 10 minute mask that you rinse off afterwards but I just couldn’t do it. I rinsed off the coffee bits and the essence, trying not to really exfoliate with it. Once off, my face felt fine. I continued my routine and prayed it didn’t screw up my face.

Luckily, it didn’t. The next morning there was not redness or really bad reaction. I was so mad that the mask was like that.

Usually, when I did WTD, there isn’t a clear winner. I would like both products and maybe have one outdo the other but I would probably say I would repurchase both. This time, there is a clear better, IMO. The Beyond Belief would be a repurchase - it was a refreshing cooling mask that be nice on a hot day and didn’t sting my face. I don’t know if it was just a bad day to use the By Nature mask or my face just didn’t like the mask, but I will not be repurchasing the mask.
